AceShowbiz - Britney Spears ditched her trademark blonde hair for a sultry brunette look on Wednesday, September 4, amid the ongoing drama surrounding her family.
The 37-year-old singer debuted her new look on her Instagram page, sharing a video montage of herself showing off her darker locks while pulling funny faces for the camera.
In the caption, Britney credited her sister Jamie Lynn Spears for inspiring her makeover, after her younger sibling also went from blonde to brunette ahead of her role in upcoming Netflix series “Sweet Magnolias”.
"Same faces, same dress, new hair !!!!!" Britney wrote. "Yes, my sister inspired me to go dark !!!!!!!"
It's not the first time Britney has gone dark, and it seems her boyfriend Sam Asghari approves of her new look, commenting on the clip, "Beautiful blonde or black."
The transformation comes amid a difficult time in the "Toxic" star's life. Her sons, 13-year-old Sean and 12-year-old Jayden, have obtained a protective order against their grandfather, Britney's dad Jamie Spears, following an alleged violent incident last month. Police in Ventura County, California are investigating Britney's father following claims he broke down a door and violently shook one of the children. According to reports, the star's ex-husband Kevin Federline reported the incident to police after it occurred when the boys were staying with their mum on August 25.
