The 'Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle' actor fractured his spine in three places during the horrible car crash on Sunday, but he's still considered lucky because it could have been much worse.

AceShowbiz - Kevin Hart suffered from multiple spinal fractures in the horrific car accident which took place on Sunday, September 1. The actor underwent a surgery to repair the fractures, two of which were in the thoracic section of his spine and another was in the lumbar, according to TMZ.

While the surgery was a success, the "Night School" star is still dealing with grueling pain. He has to be heavily medicated because the pain is so intense, the site reports. He's expected to make a full recovery, though "it's gonna be a long road back." He will require weeks if not months of physical rehabilitation.

Hart is considered lucky because his condition could have been worse. As the site notes, "lumbar fractures can often result in at least difficulties walking, and at worst ... partial paralysis of the arms or legs."

TMZ additionally reports that the 40-year-old star had wrapped two of his upcoming projects before the accident and his long recovery will not likely affect them. He reportedly wrapped up the production of "Fatherhood" and "Jumanji: The Next Level" only days before the unfortunate incident.

He, however, has other upcoming projects which are now in limbo after his car accident. One of them is an action comedy called "My Own Worst Enemy", which he's supposed to star in and produce. There's still no word on how the movie will deal with Hart's injuries.

As reported before, Hart was a passenger in his 1970 Plymouth Barracuda which was driven by his friend Jared Black during the accident on the Labor Day weekend in Calabasas, California. Jack lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll into a ditch. Another passenger, Black's fiance Rebecca Broxterman, was unharmed.

Hart reportedly headed to his nearby home after the accident, but later sought treatment for his injuries at a local hospital. The accident is currently under investigation by police. Officials have said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
