In a candid new interview with The New York Times, the 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' star confesses that he attended the support group after splitting from Angelina Jolie in 2016.

AceShowbiz - Brad Pitt turned to Alcoholics Anonymous to help him turn his life around after his marriage breakdown.

The "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" star has opened up about his battle with booze in a candid new interview with The New York Times, and reveals he felt a kind of freedom when he sat down to talk about his issues with fellow former heavy drinkers trying to get and stay sober.

"You had all these men sitting around being open and honest in a way I have never heard," Brad explains. "It was this safe space where there was little judgment, and therefore little judgment of yourself..."

"It was actually really freeing just to expose the ugly sides of yourself. There's great value in that."

The 55-year-old split from his wife Angelina Jolie in 2016 amid reports suggesting his drinking was to blame.

"I had taken things as far as I could take it, so I removed my drinking privileges," he shared.

The actor has discovered that being more open about his struggles has been healing. "The fact is, we all carry pain, grief and loss," he says. "We spend most of our time hiding it, but it’s there, it's in you. So you open up those boxes."
