The 'Atomic Bomb' star ditches Cipher's signature dreads and shows off her new bowl haircut as she teases her character's return in 'The Fate of the Furious' sequel.

AceShowbiz - Charlize Theron will look completely different when she returns for "Fast and Furious 9". The actress has teased her character Cipher's new look in the upcoming movie as she debuted her new haircut on Instagram on Monday, September 2.

The 44-year-old star took to the photo-sharing site to share an image of her flaunting her bowl haircut. Her hair also features sharp blonde highlights with a brunette undercut. It's a drastic change from Cipher's hairstyle in the previous installment, "The Fate of the Furious". The criminal mastermind and cyberterrorist rocked long blonde dreads in the 2017 movie.

"She's baaaaack," Theron simply captioned the photo, expressing her excitement at filming the new sequel. She additionally shared a black-and-white snap of the set showing her chair, with her character's name on it.

Hairstylist Adir Abergel, who gave Theron the short haircut, revealed that he was inspired by 1990s supermodel Linda Evangelista's look. Sharing a black-and-white version of Theron's picture, he wrote in the caption, "I always feel so blessed collaborating with this insanely talented human @charlizeafrica. I was inspired by early images of Linda Evangelista shot by @therealpeterlindbergh. It took some rad people to make this one come to life."

Besides Theron, Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris and Helen Mirren are set to return for the ninth "Fast and Furious" movie. Nathalie Emmanuel, John Cena and Michael Rooker, meanwhile, have been confirmed as new additions to the cast.

Diesel shared in July a picture of Ludacris welcoming new cast member Cena on the set with a warm embrace. The Dominic Toretto depicter wrote in the caption, "We all know the legacy Chris Bridges (Ludacris' real name) has created in the music industry... but what I am particularly proud of is his growth as an actor. It has been a pleasure to watch him turn Tej into a household name. His contributions don't stop there, when it comes to the World's saga... look how he embraces and welcomes our new cast member John Cena... grateful for both of them."

Plot details are very scarce. Justin Lin is back behind the lens as director, with the script written by Daniel Casey. The movie is scheduled for a May 22, 2020 release in the United States.
