AceShowbiz - Dubbed as one of the most influential rappers in the current rap game, Young Thug has inspired newer artists like Gunna, Lil Baby and Lil Nas X with his experimental delivery and unorthodox approach to pitch. Due to this uniqueness in his music, Thug's songs and projects have always been well received by music critics, with some publications putting his record in year-end lists of best album.

Take his "1017 Thug" mixtape as an example. Receiving positive reviews from music critics for its original style, the project was listed in a lot of year-end lists such as Pitchfork's Album of the Year, Complex's The 50 Best Albums of 2013, Rolling Stone's 10 Best Mixtapes of 2013 and The Guardian's The Five Best Mixtapes of 2013.

The rapper's career just kept rising after that, with him earning his first No. 1 single on Billboard's Hot 100 chart for his Camila Cabello collaboration "Havana". He also received Song of the Year at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards for his songwriting contributions to Childish Gambino's (Donald Glover) "This Is America". As for his achievement as a lead artist, his track "The London" featuring J. Cole and Travis Scott (II) became his highest charting song as it peaked at No. 12 on Hot 100.

"The London" served as the lead single off his debut studio album "So Much Fun", which debuted atop Billboard 200 and earned him his first No. 1 album on the chart. In addition to that, the album was met with positive reviews from critics. Lucy Shanker of Consequence of Sound praised the album, " 'So Much Fun' succeeds in its quest to highlight the success of Young Thug; almost all of the 19 tracks could stand alone as a strong demonstration of what Thug does best, but they also work together to create a cohesive project."

Meanwhile, Kyann-Sian Williams of NME stated, " 'So Much Fun' is a free-spirited record that comes with heavy doses of ridiculousness, but its lovably silly, and is a welcome dose of light relief."
