Confirming the Ezra Miller-starring superhero film as his next project after 'It Chapter Two', the director says he 'can't promise that there will be any horror [elements in it.]'

AceShowbiz - Andy Muschietti has confirmed that he will be directing "The Flash" movie for Warner Bros. Pictures. The Argentine filmmaker, known for his works on horror films such as "Mama" and "It", says in an interview with Fandago that the DC superhero film will be his next project after "It Chapter Two".

Asked if the upcoming movie starring Ezra Miller would contain horror elements similar to the "It" movies, the helmer says, "An element if horror? I don't think so." He, however, teases what could be expected from "The Flash" movie, "What captivated me about the Flash is the human drama in it. The human feelings and emotions that play in the drama [of it]. It's going to be fun, too. I can't promise that there will be any horror [elements in it], really, but it's a beautiful human story."

"The Flash" movie, which at one point was called "Flashpoint", has been long in development with multiple directors being attached, but then leaving the project. Most recently, John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein departed the movie after alleged months of tensions over creative differences. The "Spider-Man: Homecoming" scribes reportedly "have a light-hearted approach to the material," while Miller wanted a darker take on the material.

Along with rumors of Muschietti's involvement in "The Flash", it was later reported that his partner and sister Barbara Muschietti would join the project as producer, teaming up with Michael Disco. Other details are currently unavailable as WB has not announced a start date for the principal photography. Muschietti said at the San Diego Comic-Con last July that he would take a little time off after the "It" sequel before working on his next project.

Meanwhile, Miller confirmed last week that "The Flash" movie is "absolutely confirmed" and he's still attached to star. Considering that he is scheduled to start filming "Fantastic Beasts 3" in the spring of 2020, the standalone The Flash film may only start shooting later in that year or in early 2021.
