Sunday, August 25 marked 18 years since the star's passing, when she was the victim of a plane crash in the Bahamas. And Missy, who collaborated with the singer throughout her career, honoured the late star with a touching tweet.
Alongside a photo of Aaliyah, who died aged 22, she wrote, "Aaliyah it's been 18 years now but your STYLE & MUSIC still continues to IMPACT all the generations behind you!"
"May you rest In paradise in PEACE," the 48-year-old added, along with a string of emojis.
In a later post, the "Get Ur Freak On" star added, "You will NEVER be forgotten so MANY LOVE you Babygirl... WE ALL MISS YOU!"
Aaliyah worked with the hip-hop star throughout the '90s, with Missy writing and producing tracks for her second studio album, "One in a Million".
