Artist of the Week: Megan Thee Stallion

The 'Hot Girl Summer' hitmaker is without a doubt one of the hottest female emcees in the industry today, stealing people's hearts with her 'impeccable' and 'powerful' flow.

AceShowbiz - It looks like the saying, "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree," applies very well to Megan Thee Stallion. Having a mother who worked as a rapper, the rising star was able to develop her rapping skill at such an early age and has now become one of the hottest female emcees in the industry, with some people even putting her in the same line as superstars Nicki Minaj and Cardi B.

Obviously, Megan didn't earn her success in just one night. Being underestimated by schoolmates who thought she couldn't rap, the 24-year-old babe proved them wrong by stealing people's heart with a clip of her battling male opponents in a freestyle battle. Her career continued to grow brighter from there, having her big break in 2018 thanks to her single "Big Ole Freak" that peaked at No. 5 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart.

Not only the single, but her album "Tina Snow" also received positive reviews from music critics. Slightlychiant described the mixtape as a project that "exudes confidence and sexiness making it a really self-empowering experience for the listener," while gushing over Megan's "impeccable, powerful and perfectly placed" flow.

The positive reviews clearly motivated Megan to work harder because her next mixtape, "Fever", was once again well-received by critics and even became her first top ten effort on Billboard 200, peaking at No. 10. Fred Thomas for AllMusic praised the effort, "With near-peerless levels of confidence, fearlessly bold lyricism, and relentness, expertly crafted bears, Fever established Megan Thee Stallion as a figure in Southern rap."

Megan recently joined forces with Nicki to release "Hot Girl Summer", a collaboration that was inspired her viral catchphrase, "Hot girl summer." Also featuring Ty Dolla $ign, the single became the first female rap-collaboration to ever hit the top spot on iTunes U.S. chart.
