The Aston Martin DB5 was sold at RM Sotheby's Monterey Car Week in California during an Evening with Aston Martin event last week (ends August 16) for $6.4 million (£5.3 million), marking the highest ever auction price for the model, according to Carbuzz.com.
The fully road-worthy car has some unique features befitting its famous history including wheel hub-mounted tyre slashers and a passenger-seat ejection system.
In 2010, an Aston Martin DB5 used in Connery's 1964 James Bond film "Goldfinger" sold for $4.6 million (£3.8 million).
