AceShowbiz - Blake Shelton denied "throwing shade" at Lil Nas X in his new song.
The newly-released track "Hell Right", featuring Trace Adkins, features a lyric that some fans have speculated takes aim at the country rapper's massive hit, "Old Town Road", which features Billy Ray Cyrus.
"Then the girl from the small town took off the Old Town, put on a little Hank Jr.," Blake croons, before Adkins chimes in and says, "Thank God."
However, a rep for the country singer insisted that the line is not a criticism, and Shelton even spoke to Cyrus about it.
"It's absolutely not throwing any kind of shade at Lil Nas X at all," they told Variety. "Blake says this literally has nothing to do with anything at all except how much the song is played. It could have been 'Achy Breaky Heart' or any other (overplayed) song. Blake talked to Billy Ray and he thought it was funny."
And in a since-deleted post on Twitter, Lil Nas joked, "It don't slap like old town road tho."
