The 'What's My Name?' songstress appears to blast her mentor, who will reportedly become a co-owner of an NFL team, by liking an Instagram post which calls Jay-Z 'shady.'

AceShowbiz - Rihanna has quietly shown her stance in the debate over Jay-Z's new deal with NFL. The "Umbrella" hitmaker is apparently not a fan of the rapper's agreement with the football league as she is believed to have subtly thrown shade at her longtime friend and mentor.

The Barbadian singer recently liked an Instagram post by social activist Shaun King, who wrote a lengthy message criticizing Jay-Z's NFL move. In the post, Shaun stated, "Jay Z was wrong." He went on calling the deal "shady."

Shaun laid out the problems with Jay-Z's NFL deal, which many have also taken issue with. They question the Roc Nation founder's support for Colin Kaepernick, who has been banned by NFL for three years for the national anthem protest. Moreover, the 49-year-old music mogul reportedly never included Colin in early discussions about the deal, while he talked to the 31-year-old former quarterback repeatedly over the past year.

Jay-Z signed a deal with NFL to become its new "live music entertainment strategist" earlier this week. The role will see him helping curate the league's high profile Super Bowl halftime show among other various music-related endeavors, in addition to contributing to the league's Inspire Change initiative.

Many were surprised by the deal, since Jay-Z has been critical of the league and shown his support for Colin in the past. Defending the deal, the husband of Beyonce Knowles said, "There [are] two parts of protesting. You go outside and you protest, and then the company or the individual says, 'I hear you. What do we do next?' "

He added, "For me it's like action, [an] actionable item, what are we gonna do with it? Everyone heard, we hear what you're saying, and everybody knows I agree with what you're saying [in Colin's underlying message.] So what are we gonna do? You know what I'm saying? [Help] millions and millions of people, or we get stuck on Colin not having a job."

According to TMZ, Jay-Z will continue to expand his partnership with NFL by becoming part owner of an NFL. Sources tell the site that the "Run This Town" spitter is going to have a "significant ownership interest" in an NFL team. While it's currently unclear which team that he will co-own, the sources say "it is going to happen in the near future."
