The 'Old Town Road' star confessed in a new interview that he was actually nervous about how his fans and peers would react when he came clean about his sexuality.

AceShowbiz - Lil Nas X has revealed he never planned to come out as gay, but was inspired to be honest with fans by June's Pride Month celebrations.

The star shared the news in a tweet, that urged fans to pay attention to lyrics of the track "C7osure (You Like)" from his EP "7". But in an interview for Time magazine, the star confessed he was nervous about how his fans and peers would react when he came clean about his sexuality.

"I know the people who listen to this the most, and they're not accepting of homosexuality," the 20-year-old singer/rapper shared.

The musician, real name Montero Lamar Hill confessed that, from a young age, he was taught homosexuality "is never going to be OK", which added to his concerns.

And while the "Old Town Road" hitmaker revealed he hadn't planned on opening up about his sexuality, he came out to his father and sister in early June and confessed the global Pride Month celebrations encouraged him to take the leap publicly.

"I never would have done that if I wasn't in a way pushed by the universe," he told the publication. "In June, I'm seeing Pride flags everywhere and seeing couples holding hands - little stuff like that."

The star's worldwide hit, "Old Town Road", became the longest-running number one single in U.S. history this month, and has racked up 19 consecutive weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
