AceShowbiz - A man who allegedly murdered K-Pop star Samuel's father Jose Arredondo has been arrested. The suspected killer, identified as Roberto Gonzalez, was busted on Monday night, July 29 in Mexico by local police.
The Attorney General of the State of Baja California Sur confirms the 50-year-old man from Hidalgo, Mexico, has been charged with homicide. Authorities believe Roberto committed the crime in the company of others and are still looking for other suspects. The suspect had been reported missing by his family.
Jose's family says the suspect was a longtime "acquaintance." His sister Laura Arredondo tells Bakersfield news outlet KGET-TV, "That particular person was a friend of his for 20 years. They have one of them, but it wasn't just one [person involved], it was more. But at least they have one of them and I know that person is going to talk."
In a news release, police state Roberto and other suspects arrived at Jose's condo in Cabo San Lucas on Monday, July 15 and beat him to death. He was found dead the following day.
Laura goes on saying about her brother, who was a well-known businessman, "He was not a fighter, he would see someone argue and he would walk away. He was not a fighter and for someone to do that to him, it doesn't have a name." She adds, "It's been incredibly hard for my whole family."
Funeral service for Jose was held at New Life Church in Southwest Bakersfield on Monday, July 29, on what would've been his 60th birthday. His son Samuel, born as Samuel Kim Arredondo, said at the service, "He really reached out and helped the community. I really hope one day I can be the man he was."
Jose immigrated to the United States in the 1970s from Mexico. He worked his way up from poverty to own several local car dealerships. His 17-year-old son Samuel was born in Los Angeles and currently lives in South Korea. He released his debut album "Sixteen" in August 2018 after participating on reality series "Produce 101" season 2.
