The 'Jolene' hitmaker joins 'The Story' singer and her The Highwomen bandmates to sing 'Eagle When She Flies', 'Just Because I'm a Woman', 'I Will Always Love You' and '9 to 5'.

AceShowbiz - Dolly Parton thrilled fans at the Newport Folk Festival on Saturday night (July 27) when she joined Brandi Carlile for a star-studded headlining surprise.

Carlile headlined the Friday night of the festival in Rhode Island with her all-girl supergroup The Highwomen and she surprised the crowd again the following day with an unannounced jam, billed as The Collaboration.

Carlile shared the stage with her The Highwomen bandmates, Natalie Hemby, Maren Morris, and Amanda Shires, again, but this time she added Judy Collins, Sheryl Crow, Linda Perry, Amy Ray and Dolly to the mix.

"Newport has always been on the right side of history," the headliner said at the beginning of her set, "and in its 60th year, Newport is going to have its very first all-female, headlining collaboration. Thank you for being on the right side of history again!"

She then trotted out her famous friends, ending the set by introducing "incomparable unicorn legend" Parton, who joined Carlile for renditions of "Eagle When She Flies", "Just Because I'm a Woman", "I Will Always Love You", and an all-star finale of "9 to 5".
