AceShowbiz - Americana and folk legend John Prine has postponed his North American summer tour so he can focus on an upcoming surgery.
The 72-year-old "Lake Marie" singer/songwriter has scrapped eight dates after learning he risks illness on the road if he doesn't stop for heart surgery.
"In consultation with his doctors, John has been advised that he has an elevated risk for a stroke," a message on his website reads. "He will have surgery this week to insert a stent which will remedy the issue. He looks forward to a full and speedy recovery."
Prine insists he'll return to the road later this year and play all the shows he has had to postpone, beginning with Sunday's (July 28) gig in Morrison, Colorado - which has already been rescheduled for September 8.
