Handed the honor while promoting Netflix's 'The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance', the 'Star Wars' star is added to the winners list that includes director George Lucas and late Marvel boss Stan Lee.

AceShowbiz - Mark Hamill was handed the 2019 Icon Award at Comic-Con in San Diego, California on Friday (July 19).

The "Star Wars" actor was at the fan convention promoting Netflix's "The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance" when he was surprised with the honour.

"I told you how lucky I feel to be able to do all the things I loved as a kid and get paid for it, so this just seems wildly excessive, but is much appreciated," Hamill told fans. "Listen guys, if it weren't for you, I certainly wouldn't be standing here."

"I started coming to these cons years before I met George (Lucas). I was at the con when they said, 'Did you hear? There's going to be 5,000 people this year'. And we were like, 'Wow! How many are women?' I thank you very, very much."

Lucas and late Marvel comic book guru Stan Lee are among the past winners of the Icon Award.
