The president confirms the White House has been communicating with Swedish officials to help with A$AP Rocky's situation in the country after more than two weeks of detainment.

AceShowbiz - Donald Trump has pledged to help release A$AP Rocky from Swedish detainment after Kanye West and First Lady Melania Trump asked him to get involved with the situation. In a tweet posted on Friday, July 19, the president said, "Just spoke to @KanyeWest about his friend A$AP Rocky's incarceration. I will be calling the very talented Prime Minister of Sweden to see what we can do about helping A$AP Rocky. So many people would like to see this quickly resolved!"

Trump also addressed A$AP Rocky's situation during a press conference at the White House. "A$AP Rocky is a situation in Sweden. Sweden's a great country and they're friends of mine, the leadership. And we are going to be calling, we'll be talking to them, we've already started and many, many members of the African-American community have called me - friends of mine, and said could you help?" he told reporters on Friday.

He added, "I personally don't know ASAP Rocky, but I can tell you that he has tremendous support. from the African-American community .. and when when I say African-American, I really can really say from everybody in this country because we are all one."

The president went on noting that his wife Melania was among the first who brought the case to his attention. "Actually the one who knew about A$AP Rocky was our first lady," Trump said. "She was telling me, 'Can you help A$AP Rocky? Do you want to give them a little statement on that?' "

The White House has been working with U.S. State Department to deal with A$AP Rocky's situation. "We are aware that the Stockholm District Court announced it has granted until July 25 for prosecutors to complete their investigation in this case," the State Dept. officials said in a statement. "One of the most important tasks of the Department of State and U.S. embassies and consulates abroad is to provide assistance to U.S. citizens who are detained abroad."

Kanye and his wife Kim Kardashian reportedly reached out to Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner earlier this week to talk about the arrest. Kim tweeted on Thursday, "Thank you @realDonaldTrump , @SecPompeo, Jared Kushner & everyone involved with the efforts to Free ASAP Rocky & his two friends. Your commitment to justice reform is so appreciated."

A$AP Rocky has been held in detention in Sweden since July 2, following a street brawl in Stockholm on June 30. A judge ruled on Friday that the "Wild for the Night" rapper will stay in jail until at least July 25, after a Swedish prosecutor requested a week extension for pre-trial detention while police continue investigating the fight.
