Swift strikes feline moves and teams up with Elba for a duo dance, and Jennifer Hudson acts out an emotional scene, as the cast shares their personal stories about performing onstage and the stage musical.

AceShowbiz - Universal Pictures has previewed its "Cats", one of the biggest upcoming musical films. Unveiled on Wednesday, July 17, the video gives viewers first look at the highly-anticipated movie by taking them behind the scenes of the rehearsal and production.

Playing Bombalurina, one of the principal cat characters, Taylor Swift is seen dancing with a group of female dancers. She's also seen practicing her crouching feline moves and dancing with Idris Elba, who portrays villain cat Macavity, in other scenes.

"My first memories of performance go back to Pennsvlvania when I was growing up," Swift shares of her experience as a stage performer. "My favorite thing was getting to be theatrical, to tell a story, and I've always brought that sort of narrative element to my life shows."

Jennifer Hudson, who takes another lead role of Grizabella, recalls she "grew up singing in the church" and her feeling when she first found out that she landed a role in the movie. Practicing her scene, she is seen getting emotional as she kneels down.

Judi Dench, meanwhile, reveals how she's got her redemption with her role in the upcoming movie after missing out a chance to star in the 1981 musical. "I was cast in 1981," says the veteran actress. "Just before we opened, I snapped my Achilles tendon, and I thought that that was my history with 'Cats'. But it turns out not to be."

Showing the dancers, choreographers and other crew members, the video also teases the massive set that is created to depict the world from cats' perspective. Director Tom Hooper goes on sharing about the actors' appearance as cats in the movie, "We've used digital fur technology to create the most perfect covering of fur."

Also starring in the movie are Jason Derulo (Rum Tum Tugger), Rebel Wilson (Jennyanydots), James Corden (Bustopher Jones) and Sir Ian McKellen (Gus the Theatre Cat), who are featured in the behind-the-scenes look.

"Cats" is a movie adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber's 1981 musical play, which was based on "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats" by T. S. Eliot. "Billy Elliot" writer Lee Hall writes the script for the upcoming movie, which is scheduled for a December 20 release in the United States.
