In a statement about the premiere cancellation, Disney Channel reveals that the company will transfer the cost of the event to the late actor's favourite charity, the Thirst Project.

AceShowbiz - The red carpet premiere for TV movie "Descendants 3" has been cancelled as a mark of respect to the film's star Cameron Boyce.

Instead Disney Channel bosses plan to make a donation for the cost of the premiere to the young star's favourite charity, the Thirst Project.

"We're proud to be part of Cameron Boyce's legacy by showcasing his talents on screen but we are cancelling the red carpet premiere event for 'Descendants 3' (scheduled for July 22) and instead, The Walt Disney Company will make a donation to the Thirst Project, a philanthropic organization to which Cameron was deeply committed," a statement reads.

"With permission from the Boyce family, Disney Channel will dedicate the telecast of 'Descendants 3' in Cameron Boyce's memory."

The 20-year-old died in his sleep on Saturday morning (July 06) after suffering a seizure.

Coroners have determined the former child star died from natural causes. A final cause of death is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
