AceShowbiz - The irony of "Toy Story 4" new character Forky continues in real life. Disney has issued a voluntarily recall of its plush Forky toy, citing safety concern. The Consumer Products Safety Commission reported the googly eyes can detach and present a choking hazard to children younger than 3.
The company offers a full refund to costumers who return the toy in question. "We are voluntarily recalling the 11" Forky plush due to a manufacturing defect. Nothing is more important than the safety of our guests," it said in a statement released on Twitter on Monday, July 8, "please call 866-537-7649 or return the item to any North America Disney/Disney Parks store for a full refund."
The CPSC also stated, "Consumers should immediately take the recalled toy away from children and return it to any Disney Store retail location, Walt Disney World, or Disneyland Resort theme park retail store location for a full refund."
Plush Forky was sold at Disney Stores, Disney Theme Parks, shopdisney.com and through the Disney store on Amazon Marketplace from April to June for about $20. About 80,650 of the toys have been sold in the U.S. and Canada. The move is taken as a precautionary measure since no injuries have been reported yet.
In the film, Forky struggles with an existential crisis after Bonnie created him from a spork. Believing that he was made to be trash and not a toy, he continually throws himself away and eventually jumps out of the window during a family road trip, setting the beginning of another adventure for Woody and friends.
Tony Hale voices Forky, with Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Annie Potts and Joan Cusack among the returning voice cast. Additionally, Keegan-Michael Key, Jordan Peele and Keanu Reeves voice new characters in the animated movie.
