Amber Portwood Is Arrested for Domestic Battery After Boyfriend Claims He's 'in Danger' in 911 Call

Following the arrest, Amber's ex Gary Shirley takes to Twitter to send the 'Teen Mom' star and Andrew well wishes in addition to updating fans with his and Amber's daughter Leah's well-being.

AceShowbiz - Amber Portwood was arrested early Friday morning, July 5 in her native Indiana and charged with domestic violence. A representative from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department that the "Teen Mom" star was taken into custody for allegedly attacking her boyfriend and getting their child involved.

"Just after 3:00 A.M., on 7.5.2019, officers were called to [address] reference a disturbance. Officers spoke to the male victim who stated his live-in-girlfriend and he were having a disagreement," the spokesperson said in a statement. "During which time the female, later identified as Amber Portwood assaulted him, while he was holding their one-year-old child. Officers spoke to Amber Portwood at the scene. She was subsequently arrested for her alleged actions in this incident."

A responder on a 911 call to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department also claimed to Radar Online that someone called to seek help for being in danger. "I received a text message from somebody saying that their life and their son’s life is in danger," the responder shared.

Police didn't release the name of the alleged victim, though it's believed that it's Andrew Glennon. The reality TV star has been dating Andrew for two years after meeting on the set of "Marriage Boot Camp: Family Edition" back in 2017. The 29-year-old star, who shares 10-year-old daughter Leah with ex Gary Shirley, welcomed James (2) with Andrew in May 2018.

Amber has been very open about her struggle with bipolar depression, borderline personality disorder and anger issues for years. She also revealed that she sufferred from severe postpartum depression following James' birth which led her to be suicidal.

Following the arrest, Amber's ex Gary took to Twitter to send Amber and Andrew well wishes. "My prayers are with @AmberLPortwood, Andrew, & most importantly baby James, idk any of the particulars, however I'm thinking of them," he wrote on Friday. Gary also updated fans with Leah's well-being, saying, "And for all the questions and concerns Leah was/is currently camping with her best friend."

This is not the first time for Amber to face legal troubles. The MTV personality previously served prison time for 17 months on drug charges in 2013. Back in 2010, she was also arrested on domestic violence charges after a fight with Gary.
