William 'Willie' Moses Hooker Jr. has been identified as the alleged shooter and is now wanted for assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill the former quarterback.

AceShowbiz - Former NFL star Anthony Wright was shot multiple times during an argument with his girlfriend's ex. The 43-year-old former professional athlete got into an altercation with William "Willie" Moses Hooker Jr., 47, who has been identified as the alleged shooter, when William showed up to drop off his six-year-old daughter on Monday, July 1.

According to a Concord Police Department news release, the verbal altercation had something to do with a custody situation involving a minor child. "An argument ensued and shots were fired," states the press release.

Police responded to the report of gunshots at 12:49 P.M. When officers arrived, they found Anthony with "multiple gunshot wounds to his body." He was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery, but is currently in stable condition.

William is now wanted for assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill the former quarterback. He is described as 5'11 inches, approximately 200 pounds, and was last seen driving a black 2015 Honda Accord 4-door with NC Tag #EMD-2568. Police say William was in possession of a handgun at the time of the shooting.

Anthony played college football at the University of South Carolina. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Pittsburgh Steelers after the 1999 NFL Draft. In 2000, he was signed by the Dallas Cowboys to their practice squad, before being promoted to the active roster several months later after backup quarterback Randall Cunningham was injured. He got some playing time when Troy Aikman suffered a concussion and Quincy Carter injured his throwing thumb.

He went on to join the Baltimore Ravens in 2002. After enjoying a rising career, he missed the 2004 season after having surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder and suffered another injury in 2005. He joined Cincinnati Bengals in 2006 and then signed as a free agent with the New York Giants in 2007, before announcing his retirement in 2008. He won a Super Bowl with Giants in 2008.
