The former member of K-pop group JYJ has been ordered to undergo probation and treatment in addition to the 10-month suspension for his first offence of illegal drug use.

AceShowbiz - K-pop star Park Yoo-chun (Micky Yoochun) has been given a 10-month suspended prison sentence for using an illegal drug.

The 32-year-old singer appeared in Suwon District Court in South Korea on Tuesday (July 02), where he was also ordered to pay a fine of $1,203 (£951) and issued probation and treatment orders.

"Drug-related crimes should be harshly punished due to severe addiction and harmful effects on individuals and society," presiding judge Kim Doo-hong said of the ruling.

However, Doo-hong said that Park's contrition for his actions, as well as the fact it was his first offence, meant a suspended sentence was appropriate.

Following his sentencing, Park was released from his detention centre, and struggled to control his emotions as he told waiting reporters that he would "do lots of social service and make efforts to lead an honest life."

Park was a member of hugely successful boy band TVXQ from 2003 and 2009. He went on to form the group JYJ.
