In an ongoing effort to make the AMPAS more diverse, half of the 842 new members that will have a vote for 2020 Oscars are women, and 29 per cent of them are people of color.

AceShowbiz - Jamie Bell, Adele, Lady GaGa and "Black Panther" stars Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, and Sterling K. Brown have been invited to become new members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences.

They have joined a class of 842 new members, who will have a vote on the films, stars and crew who will be up for Oscars from next year (20).

In an ongoing effort to make the Academy more diverse, 50 per cent of the new members are women, and 29 per cent are people of colour.

Meanwhile, 21 are Oscar winners and 82 are past nominees.

The Class of 2019 also includes Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Gemma Chan, Claire Foy, Spider-Man Tom Holland and fellow Brit Tom Hollander, Damian Lewis, Elisabeth Moss, Alexander Skarsgard, Annie Lennox, Mark Ronson, and filmmakers Jonathan M. Chu, Phil Lord, and Christopher Miller.
