The reality TV star holds back tears as he remembers his wife's last days and long fight against cancer, saying, 'You kind of try to remember that you're celebrating life, but right now we're mourning the death.'

AceShowbiz - Dog the Bounty Hunter a.k.a. Duane Chapman has spoken up about the death of his wife Beth Chapman to reporters in Hawaii. In his first televised interview on Wednesday, June 26 since the big loss, the reality TV star held back tears as he remembered Beth's final days and long fight against cancer.

Calling the last few days of her hospitalization "the most terrible time," Dog said he's still trying to find a way to cope with his wife's passing. "You kind of try to remember that you're celebrating life, but right now we're mourning the death," said the 66-year-old reality TV star.

Beth was first diagnosed with throat cancer in 2017, and learned late last year that her cancer returned and spread to her lungs. "For a few years we knew this day would come. It came really unexpected, really fast. All of her clothes, her make-up, everything," the bounty hunter said while choking up. "We didn't prepare."

"The cancer gig, of course, we gotta find a cure. Because all we have now is some get lucky, but most pass away," Dog said about their attempt to cure Beth. The bounty hunter had to pause for a few seconds to compose himself, before talking about how hard his wife fought the disease.

"It's a hard fight. She fought hard," Dog said. "She did it her way. There's some things [I can't say], you know, I have a network and a contract, but there's some things that they predicted that the doctors ended up saying, 'We've never, ever seen anything like this,' " he went on sharing, though he stopped short at saying something that would be revealed on his new WGN America reality series "Dog' Most Wanted". "She wanted to live so bad and she fought so long. And the reason she fought, she liked life, but she wanted to show people how to beat it and what to do when it got her."

Trying to crack a joke, Dog said Beth continued to control him even after her passing. "Beth was somewhat of a control person. So not from the grave, but from heaven, I'm sure she's still controlling me," he said with a smile. "I got notes in my pillowcase, in my sink... I mean, she's still telling me what to wear. I loved her so much. ... It's just incredible when you walk alone in the bedroom and she was just there two days ago."

"I loved her so much," Dog declared. Believing that she still lives in his heart, the "Dog the Bounty Hunter" star said, "Beth isn't dead, she's sleeping."

During the interview, Dog also revealed his wife's final words and warned fans not to fall victims to fake donation pages asking people for money on behalf of the family. "We don't need any money at all. Please, save your money," he said. "There's nothing being authorized from any of us."

As for a funeral arrangement for Beth, they are planning on holding memorial services in both Hawaii and Colorado. Lyssa Chapman said, "We would like to do some sort of water paddle out, we know that for sure," adding that details about the memorial services will be announced in 24-48 hours.

Meanwhile, Beth and Dog's daughter Cecily took to Instagram to reveal her mom's belonging that she'll keep forever. "I'm gonna keep her Bunny key forever!" she wrote along with a picture of her mom's keychain.
