The former 'Shake It Up' star makes the confession when talking to 'Chicks in the Office' hosts Ria and Fran on their Sirius XM show, adding that her independent streak grew due to her father's death.

AceShowbiz - Bella Thorne never learned to read or count when she was a child.

The 21-year-old rose to fame as CeCe Jones in the hit Disney Channel sitcom "Shake It Up". And the star, who grew up dyslexic with Spanish as her first language, told "Chicks in the Office" hosts Ria and Fran on their Sirius XM show on Thursday, June 20 she taught herself to read by reading scripts.

"I never learned how to read and I learned how to read from reading scripts," the actress confessed. "I never learned how to count and I learned how to count from counting my dad's cash. So, I'm obsessed with money and literal cash."

Bella was only nine years old when her father Delancey Reinaldo 'Rey' Thorne died, age 44, in a motorcycle accident in 2007. The star, along with her three siblings, was then raised solely by her mother Tamara.

And Bella, who is gearing up to release her debut album later this year, reflected that losing her father encouraged her to be more independent and work through obstacles herself.

"I didn't know how to dance," she laughed. "I had two left feet and I couldn't even bounce on the same rhythm and I did a dance show about dancing.

"I was tone deaf and I own a record label and I'm signed with Sony as an artist," the star added.

Bella's debut album "What Do You See Now?" is expected to be released later this year.
