The former 'Bachelor' star also wishes that people will stop reaching out about him and Lauren's relationship because it is crystal clear that both of them have moved on.

AceShowbiz - Ben Higgins is weighing on the news of ex Lauren Bushnell and Chris Lane's engagement. In the Tuesday, June 18 episode of his "The Ben & Ashley I Almost" podcast, the former "The Bachelor" star revealed that he was happy for his ex now that she has found a new man.

"Ultimately, we left that relationship both of us, I think, saying, 'I hope life brings you a ton of joy, I don't want you upset and alone forever,' " Ben said. "I hope you find a partner as soon as possible. I hope everything that you want in this world that's healthy and good is given to you.' And that's exactly how I feel. So, to go to Lauren: Lauren congratulations!"

He went on adding that he was nothing but happy for her engagement. "We're thrilled for you. You found a man that you love without any pressure and in a moment, after dating for a long time, you have said yes to spending your life with him and I could not be more excited for you," the host went on saying. "I want nothing but joy and everything you ever wanted that our relationship would've have brought you and Chris. Congratulations."

Ben also wished that people would stop reaching out about him and Lauren's relationship because it was clear that both of them had moved on. "And the second piece of this is that I hope for Lauren and myself, is that my life isn't as closely tied to Lauren anymore. I hope that people aren't reaching out," he stated. "I hope this is a chapter being closed completely because I don't know Lauren anymore and my life isn't tied to her."

Chris popped the question to Lauren over the weekend at her family's home in Oregon celebrating Father's Day. The 34-year-old country singer revealed that he played a romantic song called "Big, Big Plans" that he specially wrote for his proposal.

"I knew she wouldn't want some elaborate crazy proposal," Lane told PEOPLE. "So, I decided to keep it pretty casual. I asked her parents for different places in Portland I could potentially take her to, but after a lot of thought I decided doing it at the family cookout would be the most laid-back setting and that she'd appreciate the simplicity of me proposing to her in her parents' backyard."

Chris presented her now-fiancee a solitaire 3.5-carat emerald-cut diamond on a pave band. "Chris is the most thoughtful person," Lauren gushed over her fiance. "He clearly put so much time and thought into not only the song, but also making sure everyone I love most was surrounding us in that moment. Holding each other, hearing the song for the first time and then seeing him get down on one knee is a moment I'll never forget. Watching the video back was almost just as emotional as the proposal itself -- I still get teary-eyed even thinking about it. Seeing all of those memories in one place and then reliving the best day of my life is pretty special!"
