'I can sleep tonight better knowing I took my power back,' writes the 'Midnight Sun' actress in a note she tweets along with screenshots of threatening texts she received from a cyber criminal.

AceShowbiz - Actress Bella Thorne has published a series of topless photos on social media to thwart a hacker who reportedly attempted to blackmail her with the images.

The "Blended" star, who isn't afraid of showing off her figure in public, found herself targetted by a cyber criminal on Thursday, June 13, when her Twitter account was compromised and a series of rude and racist posts were posted online.

The messages were quickly deleted as Bella regained control of the profile, but on Saturday, she decided to go public with what she claimed was an alleged extortion plot after the suspect managed to obtain half-naked pictures of the 21-year-old.

She shared text messages reportedly received from the culprit, and explained the turmoil she had faced in the wake of the hack attack.

"For the last 24 hours I have been threatened with my own nudes," she wrote in a note, accompanied by screenshots of the threatening texts.

"I feel gross. I feel watched, I feel someone has taken something from me that I only wanted one special person to see."

Bella claimed the hacker also proved he was in possession of nude shots of other famous faces, as he tried to blackmail the actress to keep hers under wraps, but she refused to be bullied.

"I can sleep tonight better knowing I took my power back (sic)," she continued. "U can't control my life u never will (sic)."

It's not yet known if Bella reported the incident to authorities, but she isn't the first celebrity to have intimate, private photos stolen from personal devices - Jennifer Lawrence, Kirsten Dunst, and Kate Upton have all had steamy shots leaked in recent years.

George Garofano, the hacker responsible for that data dump, was sentenced to eight months in prison last August (2018).
