Tekashi escaped by kicking open a door, jumping out, and taking off as one of his attackers gave chase.

The news emerges as Ellison remains behind bars, awaiting trial. He has pleaded not guilty to the crimes.

Tekashi, real name Daniel Hernandez, is also in federal custody after pleading guilty to nine federal counts, including conspiracy to murder and racketeering, as part of a deal with prosecutors.
