AceShowbiz - Days after the death of the Slipknot founding member Shawn Crahan's daughter Gabriel Crahan, report now emerges about what led to her sudden passing. The 22-year-old died from what appears to be a drug overdose, according to TMZ. Gabriel reportedly had a history of drug use.
While the official cause of death has not been announced yet, law enforcement sources tell the site that drug paraphernalia and evidence of narcotic use were found on scene. Police and the fire department responded to a call for a possible OD at a Hollywood home on Saturday night, May 18 where Gabrielle's body was found lifeless. Paramedics performed CPR to no avail and she was pronounced dead on the scene.
This could be a shock to everyone who knows Gabriel, since the young lady suggested via an Instagram post that she was five months sober just days before her death. On Wednesday, May 15, she shared a picture of a medal given to someone who has been on recovery and wrote along with it, "5 MONTHS."
Authorities are still investigating her death. The result of autopsy has not been released pending toxicology testing.
Shawn recently took to his private and the band's social media accounts to thank fans for their support in this hard time. "Firstly: Chantel, Alexandria, Gage, Simon and I would like to thank everyone for the endless amount of love, prayers, thoughts, and kindness we have been receiving. While it is not possible for me to read and respond to each individual message & comment right now, I want you to know that we can feel the energy shared and we are so grateful. You have all proven that there is empathy, positivity, & strength in this community that we call humanity here on Earth," he stated.
He also gave an update on the funeral arrangement, "There will be a funeral for my daughter Gabrielle on Sunday May 26th. Flowers may be sent to the Scottish Rite Consistory in Des Moines. Cards & condolences may be directed to Iles Funeral Home in Des Moines."
Shawn announced his daughter's passing on May 19, writing on his social media accounts, "It is with a broken heart, and from a place of the deepest pain, that I have to inform all of you that my youngest daughter, Gabrielle, passed away ... May 18, 2019. She was 22 years old. My family and I ask that our privacy be respected moving forward."
