During a radio interview on 'The Bobby Bones Show', the 'Road Less Traveled' singer admits that she has been secretly dating comedian John Crist since February, and spills on who made the first move.

AceShowbiz - Singer Lauren Alaina has thrown herself back into dating following her broken engagement by striking up a romance with comedian John Crist.

The former "American Idol" star called off her plans to wed Alex Hopkins, her boyfriend of six years, in January, just months after he popped the question last summer (2018).

Now Lauren has moved on and has been given a new reason to smile thanks to her budding relationship with the funnyman.

In a candid radio interview on "The Bobby Bones Show", the "Road Less Traveled" hitmaker revealed the new couple had been quietly dating since February.

She introduced John as her "boyfriend" as he joined her for the chat, and confessed she made the first move by sending him a direct message on Instagram - although John had no idea who she was.

"I didn't want to be like, 'Who are you?' so I looked up her Wikipedia page," the comedian, 35, explained.

However, he soon regretted doing his research on Lauren, because he tried to respond by making a bad joke about also growing up "performing in church in Georgia".

"It was the wrong move," he confessed.

Despite the slow start - and their 11-year age difference - they eventually hit it off, and Lauren, 24, couldn't be happier.

She has even been introduced to John's family members, who are just as thrilled he finally has a special someone in his life after spending years focusing on his career.

"John hasn't introduced them to a girl in 10 years so... they're shocked he's bringing a girl around," Lauren laughed.

The singer's romance emerges two months after she admitted she was a complete novice at finding love, because her ex was the only man she ever really dated.

"I make a lot of jokes about not knowing how to date," she shared on the "All Our Favorite People" podcast. "I'm like, what do I do? How do I even meet people...? It's problematic. It's not a skill that I have... I'm so awkward! I'm a very flirty person in general... (but) I've never had to flirt with intent."
