AceShowbiz - Nothing can replace the hole that is left in P. Diddy's heart following the death of his ex Kim Porter yet and it will be felt more deeply this Mother's Day. The Grammy-winning rapper breaks down in tears in an interview with Essence when talking about how the upcoming holiday will be different without the mother of his kids.
On Thursday, May 9, the magazine released audio of the interview for his May cover story which was featured in its podcast "Yes, Girl". "Mother's Day is going to hurt," the rapper, whose real name is Sean John Combs, says when asked if he's ready for the holiday. "We definitely are going to celebrate all the mothers. We're not going to get in the way of that."
He gets emotional as he says, "Honestly, anybody that has lost a mother or lost a soulmate - it takes time. It takes time. They say time heals all wounds when it comes to mothers ... I don't think that's the case. That's not a negative thing because as people, we need wounds. You need something to sting you sometimes and keep you on point and teach you a lesson."
Diddy continues sharing through tears, "I don't know what I'm going to do. I'm going to figure something out though. This hurts so much. I know that people want to hear the good stuff, but it hurts and there ain't no way around that...I wanted to do [the interview] 'cause I wanted to let everybody know...I don't think anybody could ever understand how hard it is to be a black mother."
"I don't think anyone would ever understand how hard it is to be a black mother," he goes on explaining. "I think we are the strongest beings. When it comes to the strongest beings on the face of the Earth, it would have to be black mothers."
Kim died of lobar pneumonia on November 15, 2018 at the age of 47. The 49-year-old hip-hop star and the model shared three children together, a son named Christian and twin daughters D'Lila Star and Jessie James. He also raised and adopted Kim's son Quincy from a previous relationship with singer/producer Al B. Sure!.
