'American Idol' Recap: Top 8 Perform on Queen Night Before 2 Singers Are Eliminated

In addition to singing the biggest hits of the English band for their solo performances, the remaining singers of season 17 of 'American Idol' are paired up for duets of famous movie songs.

AceShowbiz - It's only weeks before "American Idol" season 17 announces its winner. The Sunday, April 28 episode of the ABC singing competition featured the Top 8 performing Queen's biggest hits. In addition to singing solo, the Top 8 singers were paired up for duets of famous movie songs. Opening the episode was was a performance of the band's "We Will Rock You" by the remaining contestants that successfully hyped up the audience.

Walker Burroughs was the first singer to hit the stage. He opted to sing "Crazy Little Thing Called Love", earning him a standing ovation from the judges. Following it up was Madison VanDerburg who sang a powerful rendition of "The Show Must Go On". Although she initially struggled during the rehearsals, Madison managed to wow the judges. Luke Bryan even dubbed it her best performance of the season.

Later, Laine Hardy and Laci Kaye Booth joined forces for a duet of "Jackson" from "Walk the Line". They showcased strong chemistry throughout the performance, prompting Katy Perry to wonder if there was more going on between them.

Performing next was Jeremy Lloyd Harmon, who sang "Who Wants to Live Forever". Meanwhile, Alejandro Aranda took the stage sing an accoustic version of "Under Pressure". He drove the crowd crazy as he never failed to impress people with his vocals and musicality.

The next duet was Alyssa Raghu and Wade Cota, who performed "Ain't No Mountain High Enough". Jeremiah and Madison then followed it up with a powerful duet of "A Million Dreams" from "The Greatest Showman".

For his solo stage, Laine offered a rendition of "Fat Bottomed Girls". His performance was met with rave reviews from the judges. As for Laci, she sang "Love of My Life" which perfectly impressed the audience.

Singing "Mrs. Robinson" from "The Graduate" were Alejandro and Walker. The two singers totally killed it and the judges loved their duet. Wade later hit the stage again to sing "We Are the Champions". Unfortunately, he made some mistakes in the performance.

Rounding out the night was Alyssa. She chose to sing "Somebody to Love" for her solo performance. Lionel Richie loved it as he praised her for her confidence.

The Top 8 then learned their fates. Host Ryan Seacrest announced that America voted Jeremiah, Laci, Madison, Laine, Alejandro and Wade through the next round. With that being said, Alyssa and Walker were sent home as the judges opted not to use their one save to keep one of them in the competition.
