Through an interview for People magazine's Beautiful Issue, the former star of 'High School Musical' opens up about the time in her life when she felt like she had no idea who she was.

AceShowbiz - Vanessa Hudgens had a mini life panic in the years leading up to her 30th birthday.

The "High School Musical" star made the comments during an interview for People's Beautiful Issue, recalling how she woke up one day in a panic, labelling the feeling a "mid-life crisis".

"I remember waking up at 27 and that was the first moment where I was like, 'Oh. I am not a kid. I'm not a teenager. I'm an adult and I have responsibilities'," the 30-year-old said. "I felt like I had no idea who I was or what I wanted or what I was going after."

Despite struggling to adapt, the star claimed that practising self-care and focusing on her health and happiness has helped her to grow into a stronger and more assured person.

"The first step was just actually taking care of myself," she admitted. "My health, my skin, my body — I feel like by doing so, you're showing yourself love, so it's creating that foundation of love for yourself."

Later in the chat, Vanessa explained how accepting her age has enabled her to gain a better understanding of who she is as a person.

"Now that I've reached 30, it's so nice feeling free to just speak your mind," she reflected. "I'm very grateful for it because then it forced me to reassess who I am and what I believe in, therefore giving me just a better understanding of myself."
