The brand new sneak-peek video features the long-awaited return of a familiar face from the 'Star Wars' franchise as the movie marks the end of the latest saga.

AceShowbiz - Here's your first official look at "Star Wars Episode IX" footage. Officially titled "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker", the movie is the third and final installment of the "Star Wars" sequel trilogy following "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" (2015) and "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" (2017).

The video opens with a shot of Rey (Daisy Ridley) wielding her lightsaber on the desert. She somehow has fixed it after it was ripped in two in a clash between Rey and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) in "The Last Jedi". "The lightsaber Rey inherited from Luke Skywalker lives," Ridley says in the Celebration panel on Friday, April 12.

Kylo Ren's starfighter, TIE Silencer, is coming after Rey, but she swiftly dodges it by leaping over it. During that scene, Luke Skywalker says in voiceover, "We've passed on all we know. A thousand generations live in you know. But this is your fight."

There's a glimpse of a small community seen from over a cloudy sky. Kylo Ren is seen in a battle in the woods, seemingly slashing down one of the Knights of Ren. Kylo's helmet is being restored, although the damage still leaves red scars, just like his face.

Finn (John Boyega) and Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) seem to watch on something as they stand on a rocky outcropping. Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo) is back on the Millennium Falcon, but this time with Lando Calrissian by his side. Billy Dee Williams reprises his role as an old friend of Han Solo and the original owner of the ship.

The next scenes show Finn and Poe being chased by Stormtrooper on the desert, Rey sharing an emotional embrace with Leia (Carrie Fisher), and the main trio, Rey, Finn and Poe, joined by three droids and Chewie, looking at the focal lens of a destroyed Death Star.

"We'll always be with you," Luke is heard saying. "No one's ever really gone." With that being said, the video also teases the return of Emperor Palpatine who is heard laughing in the end.

While the teaser doesn't give away much of the storyline, the movie's title raises a question about which Skywalker that it refers to. Mark Hamill, who has played Luke Skywalker, himself is aware of how much intriguing the title is as he tweeted, "It's time for the 8 months of speculation to begin. Is that Skywalker KYLO? LEIA? ANAKIN? LUKE? A previously unknown SKYWALKER? Is REY a Skywalker? #CoolTitle."

Co-written and directed by J. J. Abrams, "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" is scheduled to launch in U.S. theaters on December 20. Lupita Nyong'o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran and Billie Lourd are among the returning stars, while Richard E. Grant and Keri Russell are added in new roles which are still kept a secret.
