As the Maroon 5 frontman and his friends take over Staples Center for the late-night celebration, a Los Angeles Times reporter shares a clip of the action to diss the Lakers' terrible season.

AceShowbiz - Adam Levine celebrated turning 40 with a late-night basketball game at Staples Center in Los Angeles on Tuesday night (April 09).

The mohawked Maroon 5 star and his pals took to the court after the Los Angeles Lakers ended their terrible season with a home defeat at the hands of the Portland Trail Blazers - and sports pundits who stuck around for the game were more than a little impressed, suggesting the singer and some of his Team Adam pals were more entertaining to watch than the Lakers.

And the game wasn't a last minute thing - the JumboTron above the court kept track of the pick-up game between Team Adam and The Other Team.

"This might be the most entertained I've been at a Lakers game in a while," Los Angeles Times reporter Arash Markazi wrote alongside a clip of Adam in action on Twitter.

Levine, who actually turned 40 last month, is a huge Lakers fan and is often spotted courtside with his wife, model Behati Prinsloo.
