The UFC star, who has announced his retirement from MMA, is reported to be arrested in January on the allegations that he assaulted a woman at the Beacon Hotel near Dublin a month prior.

AceShowbiz - UFC star Conor McGregor is under investigation for sexual assault in his native Ireland.

Just hours after announcing his retirement from mixed martial arts, it has been reported the fighter was arrested in January amid accusations he assaulted a woman at the Beacon Hotel near Dublin in December.

McGregor, who has not been charged with a crime, was released after questioning, but police officials have recovered evidence from the room he stayed in, as well as security camera footage, according to Page Six.

The allegations previously went unnoticed because of strict Irish laws banning reporters from identifying people charged with rape.

Conor, who welcomed his second child in January with longtime girlfriend Dee Devlin, announced his retirement as a fighter on Tuesday morning, tweeting, "Hey guys quick announcement, I've decided to retire from the sport formally known as 'Mixed Martial Art' today. I wish all my old colleagues well going forward in competition. I now join my former partners on this venture, already in retirement."
