Lupus, a disease she has spoken about openly in the past, has also been confirmed as the contributing factor of her death.

AceShowbiz - Two weeks after Janice Freeman died, her cause of death has finally been revealed. According to her death certificate obtained by The Blast on Thursday, March 21, the former "The Voice" contestant's death was caused by pulmonary embolism.

The document also notes that her lupus, a disease she had spoken about openly in the past, was a contributing factor in her death.

Freeman, who competed in season 13 of "The Voice", passed away after a medical emergency at her home in Los Angeles on March 2. She was 33. Freeman is survived by her husband Dion, her 12-year-old daughter Hannah, her mother Janice, brothers and sisters and many extended family.

Her memorial service was held on Monday, March 18 at Mariners Church in Irvine. Miley Cyrus, who served as her coach on the singing competition show, delivered a eulogy at the event and performed "Amazing Grace" with her father Billy Ray Cyrus. She said during her eulogy, "Before we sing this song for Janice, I want to clear up a rumor. I was never he coach, ever. She was always mine."

"I've learned more from her than anyone that I've ever gotten the honor to be in the room with, not just vocally. I should've gotten more lessons than I did, but she taught me everything that I know about love," she continued, before tearfully revealing that she was too bereaved to perform at the service. Thus, the vocal duties would be taken over by her dad.

"I had planned on singing a song for her, but just losing her is just too much for me," she said. "So... my dad's gonna take care of this for me. But I'll always be your sister. I'm here for you, and I'm here for your family, and Janice I'll miss you more than I could ever say."
