Hozier's 'Wasteland, Baby!' Becomes His First No. 1 Album on Billboard 200

AceShowbiz - Rock star Hozier scores his first No. 1 album on Billboard 200 with his sophomore effort "Wasteland, Baby!". The set racked up 89,000 equivalent album units, including 75,000 in traditional album sales, in the week ending March 7, according to Nielsen Music.

Making its way out via Rubyworks/Columbia, "Wasteland, Baby!" additionally marks the first No. 1 rock album in 2019. The last effort which landed atop the tally was Mumford & Sons' "Delta", which arrived at No. 1 on December 1, 2008. "Wasteland, Baby!" also snares the largest sales week for a rock album since "Delta", which sold 214,000 in its debut frame.

Meanwhile, the album's latest single "Movement" peaked at No. 3 on Billboard's Adult Alternative Songs chart.

Back to this week's Billboard 200, Ariana Grande's "Thank U, Next" stays steady at No. 2 with 86,000 units, while the soundtrack to "A Star Is Born" slips two slots to No. 3 with 74,000 units. Rounding out the top five are two pairs of hip-hop albums, 2 Chainz's "Rap or Go to the League" and Lil Skies' "Shelby". While "Rap or Go to the League" arrives at No. 4 with 65,000 units, "Shelby" debuts at No. 5 with 54,000 units.

Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" soundtrack follows behind at No. 6 with 44,000 units. Another new entry, Solange Knowles' "When I Get Home", starts at No. 7 with 43,000 units. It marks her third top 10 effort, following "A Seat at the Table" and "Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams".

The rest of the top ten for this week's chart is occupied by rappers. Gunna's "Drip of Down 2" falls to 42,000 units, while Offset's "Father of 4" descends to No. 9 with 39,000 units in its second week. Closing out the top ten is A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie's "Hoodie SZN", which moves down two spots with 35,000 units.
