After the 'Shallow' singer honors her mother as a response to the girl power initiative, Serena Williams, Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba take turn to celebrate women who inspire them.

AceShowbiz - Lady GaGa kicked off International Women's Day on Friday, March 08, by launching a chain letter project celebrating girl power.

The Oscar winner was nominated by the IWD official Twitter account to start an initiative, which called on powerful women to acknowledge their inspirations, using the hashtag #SheInspiresMe!

The "Shallow" singer called out her mum, Cynthia Germanotta, tweeting, "@momgerm! I celebrate and honor her for #InternationalWomensDay (and every day) for helping me lead @BTWFoundation (Born This Way Foundation) to create a movement to increase awareness around mental wellness and decrease stigma... Who do YOU celebrate?"

GaGa's mother nominated fellow philanthropist Melinda Gates and the tweet led to a chain reaction of women celebrating women.

Serena Williams, who gave a shout-out to her sisters as well as Ruth E. Carter - the Oscar-winning costume designer for "Black Panther", and #BlackLivesMatter co-founder Patrisse Cullors were also called upon to kick off chain letters for the cause.

Meanwhile, Gabrielle Union tagged her "work wife" Jessica Alba, stating, "she is unapologetically clear about her dreams & doesn't compromise her worth. Her work ethic is unmatched & she is as determined as a mother & wife as she is a businesswoman," and her "L.A.'s Finest" co-star responded, "I heart you @itsgabrielleu! I'm tagging my friend/mentor @toryburch - #SheInspiresMe w (with) her dedication to lifting up & giving women opportunities to follow their dreams through @ToryBurchFdn (Torch Burch Foundation)."
