Three days after his ex-castmate and friend passed away from massive stroke, the former star of 'Beverly Hills, 90210' takes to Instagram to explain why he is 'in so much pain.'

AceShowbiz - Jason Priestley has finally added his tribute to late "Beverly Hills, 90210" castmate Luke Perry, revealing it took him "a couple of days" to figure out what to say.

The pair's former castmates, Ian Ziering, Shannen Doherty, Jennie Garth, and Gabrielle Carteris, all offered up their fond farewells to the late actor hours after his death on Monday, March 04, but it has taken Priestley a little longer to find the right words.

"It's taken me a couple of days to figure out how to write this...," he wrote on Instagram early on Thursday. "My dear friend of 29 years, Luke Perry, was one of those truly special people who really cared..."

"Luke was not only a star, he was an incredibly bright light that was extinguished far too soon... and that is why I, and so many others, are in so much pain today... If you had the good fortune to know Luke, or to have ever crossed his path, I know you are sad today as well."

Priestley, who shared two photos of the old friends - one a throwback and the other a more recent picture, added, "The candle that burns twice as bright only burns for half as long... you burned oh, so brightly Luke... Goodnight Sweet Prince."

Perry died with his fiancee Wendy Madison Bauer, his ex-wife Rachel Sharp, and their children at his side, five days after suffering a stroke at his home in Sherman Oaks, California.

His 21-year-old son, Jack Perry, paid tribute to his dad via Instagram on Wednesday, writing, "He loved (and) supported me in everything, and inspired me to be the best that I could possibly be. I've learned so much from you, and my heart is broken thinking about everything you won't be here for. I'll miss you every day that I walk this earth. I'll do whatever I can to carry on your legacy and make you proud. I love you Dad."

Meanwhile, Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, who also starred opposite Perry on 90201 has offered up her tribute, calling the actor "the definition of a gentleman."

She took to Instagram on Thursday and wrote, "My heart has been weighing heavy. The loss of a man who started as my co-star but quickly became my friend."

Thiessen became the love interest for Perry's bad boy heartthrob Dylan McKay on the show.

"He welcomed me on my very first day of #90210 with open arms. A day that was not an easy one for me," she added. "I was coming in to a show, a family really, that had been together for over 4 years. But this man took me under his wing and made me feel at home... He was sincere, sweet, warm, kind, professional and funny as all heck."

She added, "Luke, our world has a hole in it now that you aren't here. But heaven definitely gained you as an angel."
