AceShowbiz - A slew of actors, musicians and stars flocked the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles on Thursday, February 21 for the 2019 Essence Black Women in Hollywood Awards. Among the celebrities gracing the red carpet in their best fashion were Angela Bassett, Eva Marcille, Regina King and Kelly Rowland.

At the 12th annual luncheon, which theme was The Power of Our Presence: Art & Activism, "If Beale Street Could Talk" actress Regina got all eyes on her by looking chic in a plunging striped dress that she teamed up with a red blazer. Meanwhile, pop star Kelly turned heads in a shiny pink mini dress.

Angela, on the other hand, flaunted her amazing figure in a blue dress. She completed her style with a ethnic-themed clutch. "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" star Eva arrived in a feathery Celia Kritharioti jacket and skirt from its Cirque des Couleurs, Spring Summer 2019 collection.

Also among the guests that night were Tina Knowles and honoree Jenifer Lewis. While accepting her award at the award-giving event, the latter addressed Jussie Smollett's scandal after police charged him for staging his own assault. "I was asked on the carpet so many times, 'What do you think, Ms. Lewis?' " Jenifer said. "I said, 'I have no comment. Today is a day to celebrate. But this is what you will be hearing tomorrow.' "

"Before you lie to us," she began to sing. "Remember Rosa sat on that bus. Before you tell your tale, remember Mandela sat in that jail. Before you do anything, remember Dr. Martin Luther King. Before you connive and steal, I dare you to google Emmett Till. Before another dawn after this mess. Before another dawn, and I speak to everyone, remember whose shoulders you stand on."
