The anticipation for the first full look of the live-action Genie turns into disappointment as many find it scary.

AceShowbiz - Fans don't approve of Will Smith's blue Genie look in "Aladdin". After the character's first full official look was debuted via a sneak peek released during the 61st Grammy Awards on Sunday, February 10, Twitter users have taken to the social media platform to express their disappointment.

Some people slammed Smith's Genie look as inducing nightmare. "I'm sorry but Will Smith as the Genie in #Aladdin is nightmare fuel. Also, he's just gonna use his regular Will Smith voice?" one baffled user reacted.

Another commented, "This looks like an SNL host had to change into a genie costume 4 minutes after their monologue."

Someone else wrote, "They premiered this image at night??? We are supposed to sleep after this??? I have never known peace."

"the bar I'm in had the most VISCERAL reaction of horror to Will Smith in the Aladdin trailer I'm screaming," read another tweet, while one user added, "Just saw the #Aladdin preview. Totally sold up until I saw the genie."

Guy Ritchie, who directs the movie, previously shared his vision for Genie to Entertainment Weekly. "I wanted a muscular 1970s dad," he said. "He was big enough to feel like a force - not so muscular that he looked like he was counting his calories, but formidable enough to look like you knew when he was in the room."

Meanwhile, Smith said that he would bring hip-hop flavor to the character, who was famously voiced by Robin Williams in the original Disney animated movie. "I think it'll stand out as unique even in the Disney world ... There hasn't been a lot of that hip-hop flavor in Disney history," he said of his plan.

The upcoming "Aladdin" is a live-action retelling of the 1992 animated film. It follows the title character (Mena Massound), whose life changes after he unleashes Genie from his lamp. The movie also stars Naomi Scott as Aladdin's love interest Princess Jasmine, Marwan Kenzari as the villainous Jafar and Navid Negahban as Jasmine's father, The Sultan.

The new "Aladdin" movie will head into theaters across the nation on May 24.
