Many concertgoers voice their frustration that the former member of The Fugees didn't cancel the show although she was 'too sick to perform', while others demand refunds.

AceShowbiz - Lauryn Hill has infuriated her Australian fans by turning up late for a gig and struggling to sing due to an apparent illness.

The former The Fugees star's troubled tour celebrating the 20th anniversary of her seminal 1998 album "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill", stopped off in Sydney on Thursday, February 07.

However, fans complained that the notoriously tardy R&B legend turned up on stage nearly 90 minutes late and struggled to hit any notes as she appeared to be very sick.

Concertgoer Kirsty Imber wrote on the event's Facebook page: "I was totally and utterly disappointed by the whole show. Ok she was "sick", cancel the show! None, of the songs sounded anything like they should, she killed them by changing them up. I was so excited all day waiting for the concert and I left angry and disappointed."

Others demanded refunds, claiming they had walked out early due to her vocal troubles and other production problems.

According to Gary Nunn, a reviewer for The Guardian, fans were told by a DJ performing during the delay that the star was "feeling under the weather" and added that she looked likely to faint when she finally arrived on stage.

The "Ex-Factor" hitmaker, 43, did get some sympathy from fans, with Laura Stewart posting that she was "clearly too ill to perform" and should have pulled out rather than give a substandard performance.

A saving grace for many at the gig was her support act, the rapper Nas, who "saved the show" according to some of those complaining.

Lauryn's big anniversary tour has been beset with similar lateness problems, and in November (18) she apologised to French and Belgian fans after two gigs were cut short after they got underway late.
