The 46-year-old actor/director and the 38-year-old TV producer allegedly have 'always really liked each other and that hasn't changed.'

AceShowbiz - Are Ben Affleck and Lindsay Shookus giving their failed relationship another try? A new report suggests that the "Triple Frontier" star is talking again with the "Saturday Night Live" producer.

"They've been talking and have seen each other again," a source tells Us Weekly, adding that Lindsay was the one who "reached out" to Ben. "Ben is in a much better place health-wise and is a lot happier."

The 46-year-old actor/director and the 38-year-old TV producer allegedly have "always really liked each other and that hasn't changed." The source continues saying, "They will keep talking and see what happens. It wouldn’t be surprising if they got back together, but with the distance and living on different coasts it’s difficult."

Another source further reveals to PEOPLE that "they've struck up a friendship again." It is also said that the former couple is "spending time together."

A friend of the director, however, notes that Ben and Lindsay are still putting their respective careers and families before getting into a full-blown romance. "He really enjoys spending time with her but his focus will remain his kids and family," the pal says of the "Gone Girl" actor.

"I think he's always been interested in seeing where his relationship with Lindsay could go, but these are two people who are very focused on their families and that distance between New York and L.A. is difficult sometimes," the friend further claims.

Ben, who finalized his divorce from Jennifer Garner in November 2018, and Lindsay called it quits last August after dating for almost a year. It was said that long distance was what drove them apart. "It was amicable, but unfortunately it didn’t work out, partly because of work and family obligations on different coasts," a source close to Ben said at the time. "They truly cared for each other and tried to make it work. Unfortunately now is not the time."
