In related news, another lead female character is reportedly not returning for upcoming season 10 of the AMC zombie series.

AceShowbiz - Maggie Rhee's story on "The Walking Dead" may come to an end after her last episode back in November 2018. Considering that AMC is developing a spin-off movie centering on Andrew Lincoln's Rick, it's only natural for fans to wonder if they have the same plan for Lauren Cohan's character. During her appearance at ABC's Television Critics Association winter press tour on Tuesday, February 5, the actress addressed the issue.

Cohan, who promoted her new ABC dramedy titled "Whiskey Cavalier", told reporters that there had been some conversation about making a spin-off for her character. "There may have been some conversations," she teased. "But everything is so early-days, ambigous. We'll have to see what happens."

Maggie is having limited screen time in season 9 after she signed onto the ABC drama. "I don't think it was bad," Cohan said of her contract with AMC that led to her decision to leave the zombie series. "I've done the show for a long time. It was a long time to be in any character, and sometimes you just get quiet and listen to your inner guidance, and it's time to multitask."

This arrives after AMC announced that it had renewed "The Walking Dead" for season 10. While the new season is hopefully to bring back Maggie, another lead female character is reportedly not returning. The Hollywood Reporter states Danai Gurira, who plays Michonne on the series, is "in prolonged negotiations with AMC that were further complicated by her status as a breakout actress with hits under her belt including 'Black Panther'."

The site further reports, "It's unclear if she has signed a new deal to return." AMC has yet to comment on Gurira's status in upcoming season 10, which is set to premiere in October.
