The 'Loving Pablo' star is in talks to join Timothee Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Dave Bautista, and Stellan Skarsgard in the cast ensemble of the Denis Villeneuve-directed movie.

AceShowbiz - Javier Bardem is reportedly in talks to join Denis Villeneuve's "Dune" remake.

If the "Skyfall" star signs on, he will play Stilgar, the leader of a tribe which helps Timothee Chalamet's lead character in the movie, which is based on Frank Herbert's novels, first published in 1965.

Rebecca Ferguson (II), Dave Bautista, and Stellan Skarsgard will also appear in the movie, which revolves around the battle for a drug called Melange, offering users a heightened state of consciousness and an extended lifespan, while making interstellar travel possible.

David Lynch adapted the novel in 1984, but his movie, which featured Everett McGill as Stilgar, was savaged by critics and bombed at the box office upon its release, grossing just $30.9 million (£23.6 million) from a $40 million (£30.6 million) budget.

However, it has since become a cult classic.
