When asked if she would like to host the Oscars with the 'Night School' star, the 'Girls Trip' actress expresses her disbelief why he is still facing criticism for things he said in the past and has apologized.

AceShowbiz - Actress Tiffany Haddish cannot understand why her comedy pal Kevin Hart is still facing backlash for old homophobic comments for which he has repeatedly apologised.

The "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle" star stepped down as the host of the 2019 Oscars just two days after the news was announced in December (18), when a series of derogatory Twitter comments he had previously made about the gay and lesbian community, dating back to 2008, resurfaced online.

Hart has apologised multiple times for the ill-conceived posts over the years, insisting he is a changed man, and after saying sorry yet again in the wake of the Oscars drama, in early January, he declared he was "done" discussing the mistakes of his past.

However, Kevin is still having to deal with the fallout from the controversy, after he was branded hypocritical for sending his support to "Empire" star Jussie Smollett following his vicious beating in Chicago, Illinois on Tuesday, January 29, when two men reportedly hurled homophobic and racist abuse at him.

Now Tiffany has weighed in on the whole situation, insisting the continued criticism needs to stop, because Kevin should be allowed to make mistakes and learn from them just like anybody else.

The "Girls Trip" funnywoman shared her thoughts on U.K. talk show "Lorraine" on Friday, February 01, when she admitted it "would be cool" to one day co-host the Academy Awards with Kevin.

"It would be nice to have the yin and the yang there," she smiled. "You know, if we did it together that would be cool. But, you know, you need proper preparation time."

"I mean, Kevin would've hosted it this year if they (critics) weren't tripping off (getting mad) of things that he said in his past that he already apologised for (sic)," she added.

Tiffany admits she's taken plenty of missteps in the past, but they have each provided her with valuable lessons to remember going forward - and she's confident the same can be said of her "Night School" co-star, who she has known for years and considers her "little big brother."

"Me, I say a lot of things and I don't apologise. I think before I speak. If I say it, I mean it," she explained. "Nobody's perfect... From my mistakes - and I've many of them - I have become a success and I learned not to make them again."

The role of Oscars emcee has remained vacant ever since Kevin's departure, amid reports suggesting Academy officials have opted for a host-less ceremony, relying instead on a string of guest presenters to carry the Los Angeles prizegiving on 24 February.
