The trailer further teases Jessica's rivalry with the city's lawyer Keri Allen (Bethany Joy Lenz).

AceShowbiz - USA Network has unearthed the first trailer of "Pearson", an upcoming spin-off of "Suits". Clocking at 50 seconds, the new footage gives an insight into the new series which centers on Gina Torres' character Jessica Pearson.

It opens with Jessica, a disbarred New York lawyer, embarking her new journey as a fixer for the Chicago Mayor Bobby Novak (Morgan Spector). "Some of you are well aware of my past, but I am anxious to give something back," she says in front of the crowd at a press conference.

As soon as she arrives, she realizes that she has to do something to "fix some real problems in this city."

Somewhere in the trailer, Jessica is also seen arguing with the Mayor, who tells her, "You don't know anything about politics." Jessica replies, "Maybe not. But I do know about power. And if you sit still, you won't have any." The mayor looks at her unamused, though.

The trailer further teases Jessica's rivalry with the city's lawyer Keri Allen (Bethany Joy Lenz). The latter previously appeared in the backdoor pilot episode on "Suits" as someone who was responsible for Jessica losing her legal license.

"You have a lot to learn about they way things were done around here," Keri tells Jessica, who hits back, "And you still have a lot to learn about being a lawyer."

The trailer concludes with Jessica telling Mayor Bobby Novak, "Mister Mayor, instead of telling the public why you brought me in, show them."

Created by "Suits" creator/EP Aaron Korsh and EP Daniel Arkin, "Pearson" also stars Simon Kassianides, Eli Goree, Isabel Arraiza and Chanteel Riley. Korsh previously shared of the series, "It was an extraordinary pleasure working with Gina on 'Suits' for six years. Beyond her undeniable talent, she is an incredible partner and collaborator, and I always hoped we would work together again."

"I am sincerely grateful to USA and UCP for giving Dan Arkin, my producing partners at Hypnotic and me the opportunity to continue Jessica Pearson's journey in this new series that will encapsulate all that our fans love about her and 'Suits' -- but with its own distinct story that will be unique to the franchise," he added.

While "Suits" is set to wrap the story with upcoming season 9, "Pearson" will arrive later this year on USA Network.
