The artistic director of CHANEL was scheduled to appear at a second show on Tuesday noon, January 22, but he didn't show up again as the house wishes him a speedy recovery.

AceShowbiz - Karl Lagerfeld's absence at CHANEL's two couture shows in Paris Grand Palais was hard not to notice. On Tuesday, January 22, the fashion mogul, who usually came out for a bow after shows, couldn't attend the display reportedly due to fatigue.

At the end of the morning display at 10 A.M., it was scheduled that the CHANEL director would appear on the noon presentation. But following the end of the second display, he still didn't show up. The reason for his absence besides fatigue weren't disclosed. According to the fashion house, the creative director asked his right hand, studio director Virginie Viard, to stand as his representative during his absence.

"For the traditional greeting at the end of the show, Mr. Lagerfeld, artistic director of CHANEL, who was feeling tired, asked Virginie Viard, director of the creative studio of the house, to represent him and greet the guests alongside the bride," the house said in a statement.

The company added, "Virginie Viard as creative studio director and Eric Pfrunder as CHANEL's director of image continue to work with him and follow through with the brand's collections and image campaigns." The show announcer wished Lagerfeld a speedy recovery.

Despite Lagerfeld's absence, the show ran without a hitch. They displayed this season's collection that was inspired from the fashion of 18th century Europe. "CHANEL presented its Spring-Summer 2019 Haute Couture collection this morning at the Grand Palais, in a Mediterranean garden setting," CHANEL said in a statement. "The collection, designed by Karl Lagerfeld, is inspired by his favorite period, the eighteenth century."

Model Kaia Gerber dominated the runway with pink floral dress with off-the-shoulder style, complete with grey feathers on the elbows and hips. She was adorned with smoky eye makeup, bright red lipstick and beehive hairdo. She took to Instagram to thank the company and the crews for their hard work. "Thank you to the atelier and the whole team who work so hard to make magic," she wrote.

Another eye-catching view was Italian model Vittoria Ceretti who walked down the runway in a sparkly bridal swimsuit. The swimsuit was a one piece that was adorned with intricate silver ornaments. Moreover, a long sparkly silver veil that was attached to the swimming cap added a dramatic and elegant flair.

Ceretti also took to Instagram to express her gratitude for the chance given to her to display CHANEL's collection. "I just had the honor to walk this Chanel couture show as the bride," she wrote. "I've waited for this moment for a long time and I couldn't be any happier with this beautiful dress. Grazie to everyone who made this possible and worked so hard to make it happen."
